DAPPER D

This endearing character goes by many names: Design Dude, Dapper D, Design-y, and even “that one guy.” He came into existence driven by a few key motives. First and foremost was the need for identity. The Department of Design at EWU, while formidable, is relatively young in the realm of higher education. In light of this, I aimed to give the department a retro-inspired mascot, one that students could readily identify with and take pride in.

 

The original design featured the timeless essentials of a pencil and a steaming cup of coffee – the quintessential tools for any design student’s survival. As time has passed, this character has evolved and been adapted to commemorate significant milestones and champion various causes.
